Common Uses For This Medicine
1- For the management of type 1 DIABETES MELLITUS
2- For the management of type 2 DIABETES MELLITUS that cannot be controlled by diet, exercise, and weight reduction.
3- For the treatment of HYPERKALEMIA / POTASSIUM EXCESS OR OVERLOAD
4- For the treatment of severe DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS
5- For the treatment of DIABETIC COMA
How To Use This Medicine
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor
* Patients must receive full and complete instructions about the nature of DIABETES and learn to self-monitor blood glucose.
* A reduced-calorie DIET and increased physical activity are usually part of the treatment regimen. Follow prescribed diet and
exercise programs.
* Use same type and brand syringe to avoid dosage errors. Rotate site to prevent lipodystrophy. If using pen-filled device,
follow instructions for use.
* Determine the time, number and amount of individual doses and distribution of food among the meals of the day.
* Use this medicine for the full prescribed treatment period. DO NOT skip doses or discontinue unless directed by your doctor.
* The patient may self-administer the INJECTION. Follow doctors instructions for administration and proper disposal of
syringes and needles carefully.
* Insulin requirements may change in patients who become ill, especially with vomiting or fever. Consult your physician.
* Insulin stored at room temperature will be less painful to inject.Allow refrigerator-stored insulin to come to room
temperature prior to injecting it.
* DO NOT CHANGE BRANDS without consulting the physician or pharmacist.
* Taking alcohol with this product may decrease blood-sugar.
What To Do If You Miss A Dose
If you miss a dose, omit missed dose completely; resume regular schedule. No double doses.
How To Store This Medicine
Refrigerate unopened bottles; do not freeze. Store open bottles in a cool, dark place. Discard unneeded medicine.

Swelling usually of face or lips; Low blood pressure; Irregular heartbeat; Shortness of breath; Skin rash; Sweating;
Hypersensitivity reactions; Severe allergic reaction.
Other Side Effects
Injection site redness or swelling.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE,
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.
Precautions And Warnings
* There are no adequate or well-controlled safety studies in pregnant women. NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF PREGNANT or intend to become
pregnant.
* STOP TAKING MEDICINE & GET EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF A HYPERSENSITIVITY OR ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION occurs: (see symptoms
below):-
* shortness of breath, fast or irregular breathing, fever, joint pain, fast pulse, lightheadedness or fainting, swelling of
face, hives, & itching.
* Patients should wear identification tags (Medic-Alert) so appropriate treatment can be given if complications occur away from
home.
* Treat mild episodes of HYPOGLYCEMIA (weakness, nervousness, confusion, headache, nausea, dizziness, rapid respiration) with
oral glucose.
* Treat severe episodes of HYPOGLYCEMIA (coma, seizure or neurologic impairement) with glucagon IM/SC injection or concentrated
IV glucose.
* Self-monitor blood glucose. Test urine for glucose and ketones as prescribed. Have glycosylated hemoglobin tested regularly.
* Strict adherence to personal hygiene, avoidance of infection & foot care are essential. See your dentist twice a year & an
ophthalmologist regularly.
* Because of INTERACTION with other drugs, report the use of any other prescription and nonprescription medicines to your
doctor.
